The Spawns

Highly technological artificial intelligence scours the border countries to abduct people into the cities. They seek out the refugees, but they are also notorious among the borderlanders. They send telepathic hallucinations of a person’s greatest joys or greatest fears. One can escape their spell only through a trained memory, logic or collaboratively. Either one remembers one’s previous environment and gets to the bottom of the deception, or one catches the logical errors of the illusion, which does not come close to reality. Another possibility is the exchange with those nearby, because the spawns, catch each person in their very own hallucination. That is why it is considered dangerous to cross the borderlands alone and without training. However, most people are subject to their own impulses once they are confronted with their deepest desires and wishes.
